Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei : Iran Won’t Be Deceived by U.S.
TEHRAN (IRNA) – Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said yesterday that the Iranian nation will not be deceived by the U.S. government’s conciliatory gesture.
“As long as the U.S. government has not stopped its imperialistic attitude and threats, Iranian nation will not be deceived by the U.S. government’s apparently conciliatory words; neither will the nation make a deal on its independence, freedom, national interests and rights,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in an address to thousands of university students and the martyrs families.
The Supreme Leader made the remark on the eve of 13th Aban (November 4), marking the National Day of Campaign against the global Imperialism.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that motivation in light of faith and insight are the key to right, logical, rational and strong campaign against global imperialism.
“Motivation backed by faith is a means for the campaign because no nation can be forced to stand firm on difficult scenes.”
A distinction should be made between the nation and youth and a few worn-out revolutionaries who are regretful of struggle, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, “In case of any event such as the Iraqi imposed war (1980-88), number of voluntary youth rushing to confrontation against enemy will be several times more than the outset of the Iraqi invasion in 1980.
Ayatollah Khamenei said years ago, a U.S. Defense Secretary called on behalf of the US statesmen for extermination of the Iranian nation and the Americans hence did whatever they wished to meet the goal but to no avail.
“The late Imam Khomeini, the exceptional man of history, stood against the US, stressing that Iranian nation will never compromise independence and the US will never be able to do a damn thing.”
Experience has shown that whenever Americans had a superficial smile on their face, they had a dagger behind them. So, their stance has not changed, the Supreme Leader said.
“If officials of the country are intelligent, experienced, mature and keen on preserving national interests, they will never by deceived by such smiles.”
Referring to certain apparently fine words and repeated verbal and written messages of the new U.S. President Barack Obama to hold talks with Iran and solve hence the current problems, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Republic of Iran decided since the beginning not to make any prejudgment and consider the motto of change in action. “But whatever has thus far been observed in action has been against the claims thus far raised.”
“The Americans speak of talks, on one hand, but, they continue with threats, on the other, expecting the talks should yield the results in their favor. They say if the results are not as they want, they will do such and such. That’s a kind of wolf-sheep relations and as the late Imam Khomeini asserted, “We do not want such a relationship.”
